Textiles Tales from Ukraine

A very small spotlight of beauty in an indescribably horrific time. I've shared some resources of ways to help at the end. Let's continue to spread hope, love and care however we can.

PLACES TO DONATE

The DEC - Disaster Emergency Committee provides urgent goods (such as hygiene supplies, blankets and food) for those who were forced to flee their homes due to the Russian invasion and those who’ve remained in Ukraine.

The UN Refugee Agency are on the ground in Ukraine during this emergency, helping in areas like protection and registration, organising, providing emergency relief and cash assistance.

The International Committee of the Red Cross are supporting hospitals and primary healthcare facilities with medical equipment. They are repairing water stations and supporting households to rehabilitate their damaged homes. They also help families separated by the conflict reconnect.

*I’ve read from reliable sources that the donation of goods (especially from the UK, due to Brexit) is less helpful because of the fuel, time of sorting goods, traveling time & cost to get it to where it is needed most. Donating to the charities above means the money spent on essential supplies is often spent locally, adding to the local economy.
